WHO'S ON BOARD: A variety of neighborhood, regional and national retailers such as Target Inc. and Walgreen Co. have enlisted in Google Shopping Express.

POTENTIAL PAYOFF: Google is always looking for ways to increase people's reliance on the Internet so it will have more opportunities to show the online ads that generate most of its revenue.
