How the major US stock indexes fared Wednesday

Fear of a revived debt crisis in Europe faded from the stock market Wednesday, freeing the Dow Jones industrial average to touch an all-time high.

Fear of a revived debt crisis in Europe faded from the stock market Wednesday, freeing the Dow Jones industrial average to touch an all-time high.

The Dow rose 55.91 points, or 0.4 percent, to 14,511.73.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 10.37 points, or 0.7 percent, to 1,558.71.

The Nasdaq composite index rose 25.09, or 0.8 percent, to 3,254.19.

For the week:

The Dow is down 2.38 points, or 0.02 percent.

The S&P 500 is down 1.99, or 0.1 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 5.12, or 0.2 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is up 1,407.59, or 10.7 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 132.52, or 9.3 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 234.68, or 7.8 percent.
