U.S. stocks are opening higher following a record-setting day for the Dow Jones industrial average.
The Dow rose 39 points to 14,293 shortly after the opening bell. Bank of America's stock rose 2.5 percent to $11.83.
Along with Tuesday's record, stocks got a lift from more encouraging news about U.S. hiring.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 4 points to 1,543. The Nasdaq rose 5 points to 3,229.
The Dow jumped to an all-time high of 14,253.77 on Tuesday, topping its previous record set in October 2007. The 126 point gain means the Dow has climbed nearly 9 percent this year.
Global markets kept the Dow's momentum going late Tuesday. Asian and European stocks rose.
