How the Dow Jones average fared Wednesday
Stocks closed lower Wednesday following news that several top Federal Reserve officials are doubtful about continuing the central bank's economic stimulus. The S&P 500 index had its biggest loss of the year.

Stocks closed lower Wednesday following news that several top Federal Reserve officials are doubtful about continuing the central bank's economic stimulus. The S&P 500 index had its biggest loss of the year.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 108.13 points, or 0.8 percent, to close at 13,927.54.
The S&P 500 index sank 18.99 points, or 1.2 percent, to 1,511.95.
The Nasdaq composite fell 49.19 points, or 1.5 percent, to 3,164.41.
For the week:
The Dow is down 54.22 points, or 0.4 percent.
The S&P 500 is down 7.84 points, or 0.5 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 27.62 points, or 0.9 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 823.40 points, or 6.3 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 85.76 points, or 6 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 144.90 points, or 4.8 percent
