LONDON —

A lawyer has informed a London court that Rupert Murdoch's British newspaper group has settled 22 more phone hacking claims, including one from a former girlfriend of singer Robbie Williams.

The claimants' lawyer, Hugh Tomlinson, said Friday it was likely that there would be several more settlements of claims against the defunct Sunday tabloid News of the World before the end of the year.

Tomlinson said the claimants had been offered "substantial damages" by News International but the amounts were not disclosed.

Among those gaining compensation was Williams' former girlfriend Lisa Brash, golf pro Colin Montgomerie's ex-wife Eimear Cook, and Colin Stagg, who was falsely accused in a sensational murder case.
