NAME: Richard M. Schulze

AGE: 71. Born in St. Paul, Minn.

EDUCATION: Graduated high school, has honorary doctorates from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and the University of Minnesota.

EXPERIENCE: Served in the Minnesota Air National Guard. Started first store, called Sound of Music, in 1966. The expanded company was renamed Best Buy in 1983. Served as Best Buy CEO until June 2002. Served as chairman from 2002 until 2012.

EXTRACURRICULARS: Serves on the University of St. Thomas board of trustees and board of governors for the school's Opus College of Business. Serves as chairman of St. Thomas' Executive and Institutional Advancement Committee, and a member of its Board Affairs Committee. He is also a director of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, which supports organizations that help families and children in a variety of areas including education, social services, and other areas.
