Oil prices lower on disappointing economic data

A slew of disappointing economic news spooked investors Thursday and pushed down the price of oil.

A slew of disappointing economic news spooked investors Thursday and pushed down the price of oil.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange:

Crude lost 44 cents to end the day at $87.22 per barrel.

Gasoline rose 4.19 cents to finish at $2.7648 per gallon.

Heating oil added nearly a penny to end at $2.768 per gallon.

Natural gas rose 4.6 cents to finish at $2.9450 per 1,000 cubic feet.

On the ICE Futures exchange in London:

Brent crude rose 93 cents to end at $100.70 per barrel.
