The price of gas in Virginia has risen by 45 cents a gallon over the past 60 days.
AAA's Mid-Atlantic office says Virginia gas prices are now approaching the national average. Virginia typically trails the nation.
The auto club said the average price of a gallon of pump-your-own gas is now $3.63 statewide, up from $3.18 on New Year's Day. The national average is $3.73.
Gas prices range from a high of $3.67 to a low of $3.57 in Richmond.
As gas prices have risen steadily, consumers have cut back on driving.
