Boeing says that Fiji airline Air Pacific has canceled orders for eight 787s, a jetliner whose debut has been delayed by about three years.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes spokesman Miles Kotay in Seattle says the order was valued at $1.5 billion. He says Boeing and Air Pacific continue to talk about replacing its wide body fleet. He says the airline's evolving business model has affected its fleet requirement.
Air Pacific ordered five of the 787s in 2006 and added three more in 2007.
The new mid-size long-range jetliner is currently in flight testing.
Kotay said Wednesday in an email the total number of 787 cancellations is 140 airplanes. At one time, Boeing says on its website that it had about 835 orders for the new model.
