Top Food in Redmond set to close
The Top Food & Drug store in Redmond Town Center will close July 31 after just two years at that location.
Seattle Times business reporter
The Top Food & Drug store in Redmond Town Center will close July 31 after just two years at that location. It was formerly part of the Larry's Market chain that was liquidated several years ago.
"Despite a remodel and great employees, we did not find the success we have had in other communities we serve," said spokeswoman Becky Skaggs.
Bellingham-based Haggen, which owns Top Food, is trying to place the store's 50 workers at other locations. The chain has 33 stores, including Redmond.
Skaggs said there are no plans to close other stores.
In January, four months after former Starbucks CEO Jim Donald took the helm at the grocery chain, most Haggen and Top Food stores stopped staying open 24 hours. Only three stores continue with that schedule: the Barkley Haggen in Bellingham, the Olympia Top Foods and the Oregon City Haggen in Oregon.
