The Consumer Electronics Show doesn't officially begin until Thursday in Las Vegas, but the show's organizers have already given out their "Innovations" design and engineering awards. These products are among the winners:
The Orb, from Hybra Advance Technology is a ring that doubles as a wireless-phone headset and information display. It vibrates when there's a new message, displays text on a small screen and twists into a Bluetooth headset that fits over the ear. It's $129 for a carbon-fiber version with a black-and-white display, or $175 for a metal one with a color display. Hybra may start taking orders for the Orb at CES.
Ford is likely to announce new services for its Work Solutions in-dash computer at the show. The system, which is on sale now, uses Microsoft's Sync automotive platform and traffic information from Kirkland-based Inrix.
The Boxee Box, from D-Link, wirelessly connects TVs to home networks and the Internet, linking to online video, photo and music services. It's expected to go on sale in late March or early April.
Sanyo's "eneloop" hybrid bike has an electric motor that's charged during braking and coasting. It supplements pedaling with varying levels of power and costs $2,300. It went on sale this fall but is being displayed at CES.
