NW Books: Four rowers’ journey across the Atlantic
New books of Seattle interest: “Rowing into the Son,” “Stubble Field,” “Animals Welcome” and “Foretold.”
New releases
“Rowing into the Son” by Jordan Hanssen (Mountaineers Books, $18.95). A Seattle author tells the true tale of four college friends attempting to cross the North Atlantic in a 29-foot rowboat. Hanssen tells how he and his friends coped with their close quarters and harsh conditions in their 72-day quest.
“Stubble Field” by Paul Hunter (Silverfish Review Press, $14.95). Seattleite Paul Hunter’s fourth collection of work is set in the American Midwest, with small farms and communities as the focus.
“Animals Welcome: A Life of Reading, Writing, and Rescuing” by Peg Kehret (Dutton, $16.99). For ages 10-12: In this memoir, the popular Wilkeson-based author shares stories about animals she has rescued and cared for on her 10-acre wildlife sanctuary near Mount Rainier.
“Foretold: 14 Stories of Prophecy and Prediction,” edited by Carrie Ryan (Delacorte, $18.99). The short-story collection by popular young-adult authors includes “Homecoming” by Richelle Mead, the Seattle-based author of the Vampire Academy series.
