“I was already environmentally aware for a long time,” says Sloan Ritchie. “That’s what happens when you grow up in Seattle.” A passive house is all about performance: their electric heat-pump water tank uses ambient air. There is no conventional furnace or air conditioning for 2,710 square feet of space.
