High poverty, high test scores: Auburn school is a shouting success

Brendan Jeffreys quickly grew frustrated with the math textbook at Gildo Rey Elementary after starting his first teaching job there. He created his own system, which has been so successful in raising student test scores that it’s spreading across the district.
