The UW mixes art and science with worldwide talent

Robert Twomey, a DXARTS Ph.D candidate, shows a drawing he created using a CNC plotter. The machine is controlled by custom software to draw what a camera sees through a 180¼-degree circular fisheye lens, recording what he calls a “layered image of place.” As the camera runs, the plotter sketches over and over fixed objects, while just leaving traces of those that move over time.
