Comet ISON pronounced dead: Sun is chief suspect

In this composite image provided by NASA, the Comet ISON is shown as it comes in from the bottom right and then moves out toward the upper right, getting fainter and less cohesive. The comet, which was estimated to be 4.5 billion yrs old made the close fly-by of the sun on Thanksgiving Day, and scientists say it did not survive the rendezvous of intense bombardment of solar radiation.
