Rudolph’s last stand: Where have all the reindeer gone?

A herd of caribou approaches the highway on Kootenay Pass, known locally as “The Salmo-Creston,” in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. Both males and females grow the impressive antlers for which the species is best known.
