Artist Patti Warashina is at home in the studio and in the garden

“I just go by the seat of my pants,” Warashina says of her gardening technique. “But my mother was very meticulous. One time I went to help her; I had trimmed a real long hedge. I was really proud of it. I said, “Hey, Mom, I’m finished, come see!” “ ‘Oh Patti,’ ” she said, “ ‘you have to make it straighter.’ It was her inspiration, her gardening and her garden that made me aware of plants.”
