UW has big plans for its prime downtown Seattle real estate

The University of Washington, which owns four blocks of downtown real estate known as the Metropolitan Tract, will regain full control of the land when a long-term lease expires in 2014. Next month, it will select a plan to redevelop Rainier Square, shown here, most likely for an office tower, plus possibly apartments or a hotel. The site is bounded by University and Union streets and Fourth and Fifth avenues.
