Architect Nate Thomas designs an island home to showcase Northwest art

The two-story, light-filled gallery at the center of the house holds a Nootka totem pole circa. 1900 from Vancouver Island, a mask ("Guided by Raven Spirit") by John P. Wilson, and a 700-year-old slab of cedar from Urban Hardwoods. The woven alder ceiling creates a more intimate-feeling seating area.
