Startups troll for money on the wide-open Web

Jeff McCord launched a 24-hour "Kick-A-Thon" on the final day of his Kickstarter campaign to raise $50,000 to finish creating a modern version of his classic video game, "Sword of Fargoal." Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing proposition, so if he didn't reach his goal, he would walk away empty-handed.
