Westlake Avenue cuts Seattle blocks on the diagonal

THEN: Back to back, the American Hotel, on the left, and the first five floors of the Northern Bank and Trust building fill the then-new, pie-shaped half-block of Westlake Avenue between Pike and Pine streets. A likely date is 1908.
