Landscape designer Terry Welch takes his Zen vision to Vashon

A shed-like metal house ordered online replaced the rat hotel of a rotting trailer that was on the property. Welch contoured the garden and used stone, trees and water to create a scale that suits the house he affectionately calls "the gas station."
