There is no such thing as the dead of winter in Puget Sound, where overwintering shorebirds are a graceful sight. These Dunlin birds, under the watchful eye of a bald eagle, fly in flocks of more than 10,000 in Port Susan Bay in the Stillaguamish River Delta near Stanwood. Camano Island is in the background.
