Scrap the debt limit, some lawmakers and economists say

A joint session of Congress counts the Electoral College votes for the 2012 presidential election earlier this month. The House voted Wednesday to suspend the debt limit until mid-May, delaying the looming threat of default and guaranteeing the debate over the debt limit will continue.
