Noisy ships, ferries create racket below Puget Sound

UW scientists have released a study showing that noise in Puget Sound from ships is already louder than our so-called "noise budget," the amount of noise we can't exceed before we start bothering animals. Above, a container ship after entering Elliott Bay Thursday.
