In a spare-bedroom workshop at his Redmond home, Paul Ulici shows off an old Dubied knitwear machine to Banchong Douangphrachanh. Ulici started making knits for the Romanian government before emigrating to the United States years ago. After being laid off from a local knitwear company, Ulici bought a couple of its large machines and became an independent knitwear technician.
