Dam gone, nature rebuilds Elwha River beach

Ian Miller, coastal-hazards specialist for Washington Sea Grant, carries a GPS receiver as he surveys the new low-tide terrace at the mouth of the Elwha River, on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The sand has only been visible since April and is accumulating.
