Everyday materials made extraordinary: Southern quilts at BAM

Some strip quilts in the Bellevue Arts Museum exhibit "Bold Expressions: African American Quilts," such as this one from East Texas in the 1940s, use colors as vibrant as those in Rothko paintings.
