Northwest made tackle its business, but the big ones are getting away

In 1932 in Tacoma, Les Davis, white shirt at right, introduced the Les Davis Herring Dodger, a salmon-attracting metal flasher used as a trolling device. Untold millions of salmon have succumbed to the lure's allure in the decades since.
