States fight back against Amazon.com's tax deals

California Assemblymember Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, who authored an Internet sales-tax measure, urged Amazon.com last August to drop its referendum that would have repealed her law. By fall, Amazon had agreed to collect sales taxes there starting in September 2012. And the company has shifted its focus to pushing Congress for a national policy on online sales taxes.
