Rush of freedom for Elwha as dam comes down

An excavator sitting on a barge chips away at the Glines Canyon Dam, 13 miles upriver from the mouth of the Elwah. The dam is now a third of the way gone. Lake Mills is in the background. Earlier this month, contractors removed the last of the Elwha Dam from the river.
