Working to save endangered Northwest organic farmland

Jude Blais pets a pig his family is raising at Crying Rock. Beyond the need for land to raise crops and animals is the larger concern about creating a sustainable farm economy. To address that concern, the Blais family has put in a licensed slaughterhouse. They are also involved with the Littles in a Washington State University project to see if hops, once a major Pierce County crop, can thrive there again.
