Brent Richmond of the EPA regional polluted-water dive team collects a sample of sediment where the Duwamish flows into Puget Sound. The site was identified as one of the most urgently in need of Superfund cleanup. A cap of clean sediment was dumped in an effort to keep the toxic chemicals from a former creosote plant from migrating farther into the water. Sampling was to determine if the cap was effective.
