In Langley, Wash., togetherness comes one citizen at a time

Good Cheer Thrift Shop, which supports the local food bank, is a going concern where tourists and locals alike shop for just about everything. Sharen Heath, behind the counter, is one of a cadre of volunteers who put in 32,737 hours last year, the equivalent of 20 full-time employees.
