"There are so many people who'd kill for the position I'm in," says Surafel Wodojo, 20, left, an Ethiopian immigrant and soccer player at Pacific Lutheran University. "So I have to do well for them." Wodojo's overarching career goal is to provide his mother, a corner-store owner in South Seattle, with enough money so she won't have to work any more.
