Open spaces and pop-outs enhance an old home's views

The 1960s kitchen was "narrow and dark like a train kitchen," says Candy Kanter, who even enjoys washing dishes now that her kitchen has wooden flooring underfoot, skylights overhead and a big view out to the water. The countertops are tile, the bar copper and the cabinetry a soft, earthy shade of green.
