At the Cha Cha during the Capitol Hill Block Party in July, Fire House founder Kate Becker takes in Aveo, one of the bands she nurtured in the "old days." Becker, who now sits on the board of Seattle's all-ages Vera Project, raised a generation of rules-pushing and artistically adventurous musicians with a combination of caring and understated behavior control.
