Tom Robbins' story quoted senior keeper John Nichols, who said people who came to see the animals "think they are humans in other forms . . . right out of Aesop's Fables. Well, these animals haven't read the storybooks and they don't conform to those conceptions. They're out of the jungle, not Mother Goose."
