A three-family, multi-year cycle of horse-sharing continues around Phantom, a miniature horse owned by the Gerde family of Carnation and now being cared for by Joy Bergevin, 10, top left, at her home in Kirkland. Kaela Gerde, 14, bottom, first trained Phantom, but eventually moved on to bigger horses. In years past, the Gerde family leased a pony from the family of Kelsey King, top right. Kelsey helped Kaela with the pony.
