From crammed to pristine clean, garages are extensions of ourselves

Retired Boeing engineer Don Deibert had a grease pit built in his garage so he could change the oil and repair the various vehicles he's owned. He has not been to an auto mechanic in more than 30 years. "A mechanic needs to have a pristine work space," he says of his spotless lair.
