Matzelle, 27, spends good chunks of days and nights at Everett's Paine Field, watching crews take final steps to ready the first Boeing 787, which was built at the factory in the distance. An aeronautical-engineering-school dropout, Matzelle can talk knowledgeably about the Dreamliner's every part and test. She often shares the parking lot with people from around the country who have come to witness history in the making.
