Seattle's 'new urbanism': making smart, sustainable, stylish dwellings

Broad brick paths at b9 Architects' Urban Canyon Project in Seattle allow neighbors to get to each of the seven town homes from 19th Avenue, East Pine Street or their cars, which are discreetly tucked under a trellis at the edge of the site rather than crammed under each home. Among the green features: fencing built of wood reclaimed from the houses torn down to build the project.
