The struggle for power on doomed Alaska Ranger

In the rough-and-tumble seafood harvest, the Alaska Ranger — pictured here on a voyage years ago — dropped trawl nets from this stern ramp to scoop fish from the bottom of the Bering Sea. On March 23, 2008, the trawler sank. Five of the 47 crew died.
