Seattle hospital thinks young for its workers
The hand of a patient is visible on a computer screen as nurse Jane Woodson, 67, zooms in for a closer look. Everywhere at Swedish, Generation Y technology is taking the place of things like paper medical charts while aiding bedside manner. The camera is part of what is called the EICU or electronic intensive-care unit. At night, one doctor is always on duty in the EICU monitoring room. Nurses can call at any time to answer questions and troubleshoot problems.
