Memories from Sonics fans
June 2, 1979: A crowd of about 20,000 of all ages was estimated to have been at Sea-Tac Airport waiting for the Sonics to return to Seattle after they won the NBA title with a Game 5 victory at the Washington Bullets. The euphoric feeling fans had during that heady time is still a vivid memory for many.
