Spreading the wealth
Paul and Debbi Brainerd invested a third of their fortune to create IslandWood, a 255-acre environmental education facility, on Bainbridge Island. Individuals around the region also contributed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences. IslandWood's four-day School Overnight Program educates more than 3,000 students each year since opening more than five years ago. To meet growing demand, IslandWood has begun a new capital campaign.
