Restore vs. Raze
Not many passers-by would know that 2331 SECOND AVE. was the Northwest headquarters for Metro Goldwyn Mayer, or that it and the PATHÉ BUILDING at 2025 THIRD AVE. are
surviving artifacts from the period when Belltown was the center for the regional film-
distribution industry. While the modernistic distribution center designed by J. Lister Holmes was demolished years ago, remnants of this important role in the entertainment business still exist. The Rendezvous/Jewel Box Theater at 2318-22 Second Ave. still houses the screening room that attracted movie-house owners from as far away as Idaho and Montana. These small-scale buildings are valuable connections to our past role in the entertainment business.
