Margaret Yasuda brought calla lilies to the annual Memorial Day service at Lake View Cemetery on Capitol Hill to honor Japanese-American veterans. Yasuda was a cadet nurse in World War II and her husband of 50 years, Ted Yasuda, served in the famous 442nd Army combat unit in Italy. The service is held by the Nisei Veterans Committee. In the background are members of the Japanese Community Court, who placed a wreath at the monument.
