Building reminders of a global crisis
Emmanuel, who lives in the Rakai-Kakuuto ADP in Uganda. He and his brother Fred became orphans at ages 3 and 8, respectively. Both parents appear to have died of AIDS. For two years they survived on their own, living in a banana plantation and later in a makeshift shelter. When World Vision found the boys in 2004, they were living in squalid conditions.
